Your Child's Stay

Play/Recreation

  • Play opportunities are organized by Child Life Specialists, with various community groups.
  • Entertainment systems, including TV/VCR's, stereos and Playstations are available.

Quiet Time

Quiet time is between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The lights are often dimmed. During this time, children should be in their rooms resting or doing quiet activities.

Encourage Bed Time

Unless they are with a parent, children should be on the ward after 7:00 p.m. We ask that children be in their rooms by 9:00 p.m. with lights out by 10:00 p.m. to ensure rest and relaxation.

Telephone Calls

We ask that only parents call to see how their child is doing. Parents can then pass that information on to friends and relatives.

You can call directly into your child's room once you have the extension. Please try to call between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Food

Please notify a nurse if your child has a food allergy. Hospital food is supplied through the kitchen for patients only. Parents may bring in food for themselves and their children and keep it in the white refrigerator located in the kitchen area. Please label your food and date it so it will not be thrown out.
